Wordpress e-commerce options

December 15, 2008

The ease of use and customization capabilities associated with WordPress make the software highly attractive for website owners, especially with one-click install solutions like that offered on our linux hosting accounts (Don’t be fooled by those charging an arm and a leg + your unborn child to install it for you - choose to pay for tweaks and customizations, not installs).

With the widespread usage of WordPress as both a blogging platform and a CMS, you would think there would be a wide variety of e-commerce shopping cart plugins available. Unfortunately, there are few e-commerce solutions that meet the needs of internet shopkeepers, with the exception of Wp-ecommerce and The Market Theme. A few others exist, including Shopp, but we have not tested their Beta.

Wp-ecommerce is one of the most widely known solutions, and though known as “buggy,” the latest releases appear to function better than previous versions. WP eCommerce is easily installed and integrates with Google Checkout, Paypal, Authorize.net, Payment Express and many other trusted payment processors.

Plus: Free Version, Multiple Features.
Minus: We’ve found that running other scripts within your theme may break the functionality of the cart or theme. However, the latest release seems to have alleviated that particular issue.
Big Plus: Wp-ecommerce themes are available to make building your site easier! iThemes has developed one such theme.

NEW Code Signing Certificate Protection for Software Developers and Publishers

September 30, 2008

Do you develop software or publish content? Dream Whisper is proud to announce a powerful NEW way to protect your software, your audience AND your reputation.
With public concern for online security at an all-time high, people are no longer willing to download software without proof that it’s legitimate. With a Code Signing Certificate, software developers and other content publishers can “sign” their code, thereby reassuring customers it’s the real thing.

  • Perfect for software publishers and content providers of ActiveX controls, dynamic link libraries (.dll files), .cab files, HTML content or any other software distributed over the Internet or via an extranet.
  • Time-stamping service provided, allowing distribution of signed code beyond certificate expiration
  • Protects your intellectual property by warding off impersonation and tampering

Our NEW Code Signing Certificate allows authors to “sign” their code, reassuring users that it’s the real thing and is safe to download or install. If the original code has been altered, users will be warned that the content is not to be trusted. Our NEW Code Signing Certificates are fully integrated with industry-standard technology, support Microsoft(R) Authenticode and Java and work with software applications, Active X controls, .DLLs, .CABs, HTML content, even Microsoft(R) Office documents with macros.

April 11, 2008

A Dream Whisper Hosting Merchant Account makes e-business simple. Increase sales, cut paperwork and reduce risk – our partners authorize credit card purchases, process them and deposit the proceeds into your account. It’s simple!

  • Increase sales! According to Visa International, of every $100.00 spent by consumers, nearly $40.00 is in a form other than cash or check. Plus, the average credit card purchase is considerably larger than cash. A Merchant Account is the quick, easy way for these customers to pay.
  • Get paid, fast! Make the move to credit card transactions and start receiving payment within 24-72 hours. And we’ll approve your U.S.-based application within a day.
  • Increase credibility! A merchant account means you’ve passed the approval process necessary to accept credit cards. Give your customers confidence – accept credit cards!
  • Cut paperwork! Why spend your valuable time processing checks? Instead, have proceeds from all your business’ transactions deposited directly into your banking account.
  • Reduce risk! Automate your transactions and take any hassle out of your sales. Visitors to your site want the convenience, flexibility and security that credit cards offer. They want to spend!

$14.95 Standard SSL Certificate Sale Ends Soon

February 8, 2008

Don’t miss out on the last few weeks of this sale.

But hurry, this sale ends February 29, 2008 at midnight (PT).

A Starfield Technologies SSL Certificate secures safe, easy and convenient Internet shopping. Once an Internet user enters a secure area — by entering credit card information, e-mail address or other personal data, for example — the shopping site’s SSL certificate enables the browser and Web server to build a secure, encrypted connection. The SSL “handshake” process, which establishes the secure session, takes place discreetly behind the scenes, ensuring an uninterrupted shopping experience for the consumer. A “padlock” icon in the browser’s status bar and the “https://” prefix in the URL are the only visible indications of a secure session in progress. By contrast, if a user attempts to submit personal information to an unsecured Web site (i.e., a site that is not protected with a valid SSL certificate), the browser’s built-in security mechanism will trigger a warning to the user, reminding him/her that the site is not secure and that sensitive data might be intercepted by third parties. Faced with such a warning, most Internet users likely will look elsewhere to make a purchase.

Express Email Marketing® customers: Upload your existing customer base without another opt-in

January 12, 2008

You wanted it; now you’ve got it! We just launched a huge product enhancement that lets you upload your existing customer base or newsletter list into Express Email Marketing without forcing a new opt-in procedure. Now, you can import your list (already in your database and opted-in to your marketing offers) simply by agreeing to three conditions within Express Email Marketing (1- I am a known sender, 2-I accept the bounce limit, 3-I will not send Spam). Here’s how it works:

  • Agree to the conditions and import a new list.
  • New subscribers are added as “Unverified.”
  • Send a campaign to the new list. Mail sent to “Unverified” subscribers will be delivered in batches over a 48-hour period. If you receive an excessive amount of bounces, we suspend delivery.
  • When the recipients open their email, status will be set to “Active” and bounce rules will no longer apply.
  • In the Campaign Schedule page, customers are shown a count of subscribers who receive mail immediately (Active) vs. those where delivery is staggered over several hours (Unverified).
  • All bounces are reported in the campaign bounce report.

You’ve seen it – now here’s how to fix it…

December 9, 2007

Does this happen on your Web site? Customers go through your shopping cart and as they’re ready to check out, they’re sent to a page to make their PayPal payment. Suddenly they see “Warning – There are secure and un-secure items on the page you requested. Do you want to continue?”

In most cases, the only un-secure item is an image you’ve added to the page… but your customers don’t know that. Here’s how to avoid that message and keep customers from running scared:

When linking to a photo/image contained in your Online Photo Filer account, you now have the option to also grab a secure (SSL) link to that image. It’s the perfect solution when you need to host an image (such as a PayPal logo) somewhere in your checkout process. Do this and all the content will display as secure… and your customers will continue and complete the checkout process.
