Spoonflower – custom fabric printing

October 21, 2008

Print your own custom designs on fabric for quilts, clothes, pillows, blankets, and more! If you are a creative soul, then Spoonflower custom fabric printing is for you. The concept is simple and not unlike other POD sites.

Simply upload your file, add to cart, and watch for it in your mailbox. Ok, well it is and it isn’t that simple. Spoonflower has painstakingly developed their website to be user friendly – which is very impressive. The most complicated aspect of creating a viable fabric is making sure your file is ready to be tiled so it appears seamless on the fabric when printed. If you are familiar with Adobe Photoshop, there are several plugins that can be used to make your life easier. And, Spoonflower’s blog contains information on how to prepare your files for printing.

The upside: unlike many other digital textile printing companies, you don’t have to order 1,000s of yards to have custom fabric printed. Spoonflower lets you order as little as an 8 in x 8 in swatch. The current max order is 3 yards, but that should change when the site is out of beta.

Having had several designs printed, we can say that the color is extraordinary and that we are all very pleased with the service.
